Dental caries experience and its impact on quality of life in Latin American and Caribbean countries

Robust epidemiological data allow for logical interventions taken in the interest of public health. Dental caries is a major health problem driven by increased sugar consumption and various biological, behavioral, psychosocial factors, known to strongly affect an individual’s quality life. This study aims critically review on prevalence dental Latin American Caribbean countries (LACC) its impact oral health-related life (OHRQoL) population. Although majority national surveys did not include all age groups several reported reduction cavitated carious lesions, most nations still exhibited high burden decayed teeth. OHRQoL evaluation was limited children older adults only, included any survey. Study heterogeneity methodological issues hindered comparison evidence between studies over time, updating level should be prioritized LACCs.
